Guest singers for Messiah


Rehearsal Requirements for Guest Singers

Attend a minimum of two of these rehearsals:
Tuesday, October 24: 6:30-8:00PM, Gainesville Presbyterian Church (16127 Lee Highway, Gainesville, VA)
Tuesday, November 7: 6:30-8:00PM, Gainesville Presbyterian Church
Thursday, November 9: 7:30-9:45PM, Beville Middle School (4901 Dale Boulevard, Woodbridge, VA), w/orchestra
Tuesday, November 14: 7:00-9:00PM, Gainesville Presbyterian Church, w/orchestra

Dress rehearsal required for all:
Thursday, November 30: 7:30-9:45pm, Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas

Concert:
Friday, December 1: Choir called 5:30pm or later (TBD) Concert 8:00-9:15pm

Additional optional rehearsal:
Tuesday, November 28: 6:30-8:00PM, Gainesville Presbyterian Church

Some rehearsals will be a mix of time spent on Messiah and other GCC concert repertoire.

Scores

Once guest singers have been approved for participation, we will provide you with a printed copy of a score with our performance markings. Singers are responsible for printing the music and acquiring a solid black binder for the performance.


Concert Attire

Note: concert attire is NOT required for the dress rehearsal on Thursday, Nov 30. Dress casual and comfy that evening!

Acquiring concert attire will be the responsibility of the singer.
Rules of thumb: 1) Blend in, don’t stand out. 2) Draw the attention toward your face.

For Women:
• Top
o Solid black blouse/shirt
o Shoulders covered; some type of sleeve
o Buttons & collars not required, but top should look nice
o Nothing low cut
• Bottom (skirt or pants)
o Solid black skirt (a dress is also fine)
o Must hang below the knee
o Black hosiery; no bare skin should show below the waist when standing
o Solid black dress pants (no leggings, joggers, jeans)
• Shoes
o Black, closed-toe, no high heels, and black socks or tights
• Jewelry
o Earrings no bigger than your eyes, and nothing too flashy
• Hair
o Hair pulled back or up, out of face, if long
o No non-religious head coverings

For Men:
• Top
o Solid black long-sleeve button-up collared shirt (no coat)
• Bottom
o Solid black dress pants and belt
• Shoes
o Solid black dress shoes and socks
• Jewelry
o Earrings no bigger than your eyes, and nothing too flashy
• Hair
o Pulled back or up, out of face, if long
o No non-religious head coverings
